Western Snowy Plover

(Charadrius nivosus nivosus)


This wader can be found from Chile north to the western United States and the Caribbean. Smaller in size and paler than some plovers, this bird has long black legs and a thin bill. It has dark grey to brown dorsal plumage, with white underparts. Food is small invertebrates, obtained by a run-and-pause technique.
