Toyon


Heteromeles arbutifolia is also known by the common names "Christmas Berry" and "California Holly". Typically growing between 4 and 6 feet tall at maturity, the plant?s leaves are evergreen and toothed, producing small white blooms in the summer and tiny bright red fruits in the fall and winter. A prominent member of the coastal sage scrub community, Toyon is extremely drought-adapted and can also be found in chaparral and oak woodland habitats.
