Townsend's Big-eared Bat

(Plecotus townsendii pallescens)

The most variable and progressive species of its genus, this bat is distinguished by slate gray dorsal fur, with a contrasting brownish underside. Females are slightly larger than males on average. This bat occurs throughout most of western North America.
