Spotted Towhee

Pipilo maculates is a large sparrow belonging to the Emberizidae family. Adults have reddish flanks, a white underside and dark red tails edged with white. Both western and eastern varieties of the Spotted Towhee have backs dotted with white and white bars across their wings; they have round, chunky bodies and fan-shaped tails.
