Scrub Oak

Quercus berberidifolia is a large, deciduous shrub found in the Central and Southwestern United States as well as Northern Mexico. The plant can grow between 10 and 30 feet tall, occasionally reaching heights of up to 60 feet. With crooked branches and rough brownish bark, the foliage consists of broad, lobed dark green leaves which turn yellow and orange in the fall. Scrub oak acorns are around 0.75 inches in length and dark green turning to brown at maturity.
