San Diego Thorn-mint

(Acanthomintha ilicifolia)

This rare flowering plant is a member of the mint family. Listed by both the state of California and the Federal Government as 'threatened', this species can be found in a variety of communities chaparral, valley grassland, freshwater wetlands and coastal sage scrub with vernal pools being its preferred habitat.
