Light-footed Clapper Rail

(Rallus longirostris levipes)

This subspecies only occurs in southern California. This marsh bird is hen-sized, with long legs and toes and a slight down-curved beak. Its tail is upturned and short, with streaked grayish brown plumage and white flanks.
