Large-billed Savannah Sparrow

(Passerculus sandwichensis rostra)


This songbird breeds in the delta of the Colorado River and the adjacent coastlines of Baja California and the Gulf of California. They are generally confined to salt marshes and scrub. It has a larger bill than the Belding's sparrow and also lacks the characteristic yellow 'eyebrow' of the same bird.
