Jimson Weed

Datura stramonium is a nightshade, the family of which is accepted to have originated in the New World. This stinky, branching herb will form a bush between 2 and 5 feet tall. The thick, pale green stems fork into branches with a single leaf and flower at the end of each branch. The toothed leaves grow to about 6 inches in length, with a dark green top and a lighter underside. The flowers are white-to-purple, producing a spiny fruit at maturity.
