Golden Eagle

(Aquila chrysaetos canadensis)

This is one of the best known birds of prey, and the most widely distributed of its family. Their plumage is dark brown, with light golden feathers framing their neck. They are fast, with powerful feet and enormous talons. These eagles build their nests in high places, and produce up to four eggs, of which one or two typically survive to adulthood.
