Gander's Butterweed

(Packera ganderi)


A member of the aster family, this flowering plant is endemic to southern California. It produces a single stem stalk growing to about 2.5 feet at adulthood. The stalk is green and hairy, with some purple-tinged areas. Its leaves are ovular or round, with toothed lobes and edges. The inflorescence consists of 6 or 8 golden flower heads.
